Don Quixote's Carnival

This is how we have celebrated my beloved Spanish Carnival this year at Redwood Middle School. We have put these two big ideas together Don Quijote and El Carnaval.
I believe the children will always remember how big this story is and how powerful the figure of Don Quixote is in our present day society.
The seed has been put, now the hope is that it grows!!!

“I AM DON QUIXOTE, MY JOB IS TO BE AN ERRANT KNIGHT. MY LAW IS TO MEND THINGS, SPREAD THE GOOD, AND AVOID THE EVIL. I RUN AWAY FROM EASY LIFE, FROM AMBITION OR HYPOCRISY, AND I LOOK FOR MY OWN GLORY THE MOST DIFFICULT AND NARROW PATH.CAN I BE CONSIDERED AS A FOOL OR A MORON FOR THIS?

Topics

Last week was a combination of fun, a little bit of stress and very good learning. The English members of the group learned a lot more Spanish in a not too painful and rapid way.

Thank you Francisco and Carmen for being our teachers. This week we will concentrate of the topics Sarah, Maria J and Adan have to do for there exams as well as undertaking another interesting exercise designed to improve English people's Spanish. So if you are English out there think about joining us and developing your Spanish which might in the future become a necessity if you want to stay living in Spain'

So this week, start by having some spanish tongue-twisters to help the English and to give some amusement to Spanish friends. Then we will help Adan, Maria J and Sara learn and rehearse their topics.

Then spend some time working on the spontaneous conversations that they have to conduct as part of their exams. So be prepared, the themes for the conversations will be relevant , challenging and funny. Come along, join in the fun and of course be prepared to learn!

Thanks for this fantastic party!

On the other hand we comeback this thursday with a new quest, this month is important for Sara, Maria J and Adan because all three have their B1 and B2 examinations on the 2nd and 3rd of February. Therefore the next three meetings are dedicated to helping them pass their exams and of course helping everyone who wants to improve their English both written and spoken or talk about their exam topics.

This Thursday the focus is on two aspects of spoken English, pronunciation and how to say the same thing using different vocabularies. Don't worry it will not be boring, there will be fun exercises and a grand team competition with of course a big prize for the winning team.

So if you want to really improve your English come along and be amazed at how much you can learn in a short time. See you this thursday!
